Eckhart Tolle, de son vrai nom Ulrich Leonard Tolle, né le 16 février 1948 à Lünen , est un écrivain et conférencier canadien d'origine allemande, auteur des best-sellers Le Pouvoir du moment présent et Nouvelle Terre.

Tolle raconte qu’il s'est senti déprimé toute la première partie de sa vie jusqu’à ce qu’il connût, à l’âge de 29 ans, une « transformation intérieure » à la suite de laquelle il passa plusieurs années sans emploi à vagabonder « dans un état de félicité profonde » avant de devenir enseignant spirituel. Plus tard, il déménagea en Amérique du Nord où il commença à écrire son premier livre, Le Pouvoir du moment présent, qui fut publié en 1997 aux États-Unis et est devenu un best-seller international traduit en 33 langues. Tolle s’installa ensuite à Vancouver au Canada où il vit depuis.

Les ventes du Pouvoir du moment présent et de Nouvelle terre sont respectivement estimées en 2009 à trois et cinq millions d'exemplaires en Amérique du Nord. En 2008, environ 35 millions de personnes ont participé à une série de 10 webinaires en ligne en direct avec Tolle et la présentatrice d'émissions-débats Oprah Winfrey. Wikipedia
